About Shari
The age-old connection between horses and humankind is the inspiration for my art.
I try to capture that connection in shadows and highlights, the detail of delicate saddle work and leather bindings, the glint of sun on a mane or a metal buckle. These things are my favorite challenges.
Having worked with horses in the Oregon Countryside for many years and now having more time in retirement, my artwork has evolved into themes of horses, horse people, and the intertwined lives of the animals and those who work with and love them.
I paint in photo-realism with a delicate blending technique to mix my colors and blend them into the shapes and forms on my canvases.
From commercial billboard work, I learned blending and how to use color. In my private time, I honed my trompe l’oeil skills, which metamorphosed into a focus on western art.
With my art, I hope to pass on my particular vision of the multi-faceted American West.
